- The cover of a library book. The title is “Coping with gender dysphoria”
- A page of text. A line of text is circled to be read, and it says “A simple definition of a transgender person is somebody whose gender identity does not match the gender they were assigned at birth.”
- A page of text. A line of text is circled to be read, and it says “Not everyone who is transgender experiences gender dysphoria, and not everyone who experiences gender dysphoria is transgender.”
- Myth: Anyone with gender dysphoria is transgender, all transgender people hate their bodies, and all transgender people get surgery and take medications.
I work in a the children and teen’s department of a public library. We got a new book on coping with dysphoria, and since I’m the only trans person on staff I decided to read it over.
I’d like to note that it affirms non-dysphoric trans folk and non-binary trans folk as shown above, so I’d recommend it. It’s age-appropriate for the middle school crowd especially.
Excellently written.
