Orange City residents call for segregation of library books on LGBTQ issues

biandlesbianliterature:

They are arguing that all LGBTQ books should be taken out of the main collection, sequestered in their own section, clearly labelled, and that any new LGBTQ materials have to be discussed with the community first.

This is absurd. First of all, having to consult the community every time a library wants to buy a book would be hugely costly, time-intensive, and ridiculous. And segregating the LGBTQ books would be so alienating. Imagine being a closeted or questioning person trying to sneak into the LGBTQ section and hide the big LGBTQ label on the book you want to check out.

Like…you guys…

that’s literally unconstitutional.
