You’ve blown my mind with this. I’ve never questioned it. “Liver” means “dark brown” when it’s a color but I always just accepted it and now I’m looking at the phrase “liver chestnut” and it sound like the absolute Worst Thing On the Menu

I think it’s a rule. The prettiest horse colors always sound awful.
